Sorry Sorry !! i know i haven't posted in so long but so much has happened that i've only just really had the time to breathe so be prepared for a really long post on the last 2 months because you're all my friends and i'm gonna assume you're interested :) yay for friends !
June - 3 days after sufi's birthday i was at my cousin's wedding in india. She's now happily married, she's only 4 years older than me so a little bit freaky. So as soon as i finished my exams at the end of may i was on a plane heading for India. I got to spend quality time with my mom's side of the family before the wedding. When I got back i was spending nearly every weekday at UWA even tho i'm supposed to be on holidays. This might be a good time to explain Project Kids.
ProjectKIDS (acronym for Kids Intellectual Development and something) it's a joint project between Murdoch University and the University of Western Australia. During the 2 weeks of school holidays in July, seven and nine year olds are invited from the nearby schools to the Project KIDS holiday program for 2 consecutive days where they play computer games and do puzzles. What's actually happening is that the puzzles and computer games are psychological tests ;) The parents are made aware of this of course! it's all friendly and non-threatening. I could go on and on about pkids cos there is alot to say and explain but i'll leave it at that for now.
So all throughout this year, me and other students were learning how to administer these tests properly to the kids without traumatising them! And in June everything was just crashing through practicing the tests on each other and organising for project kids in July. So that's what happened to the rest of my June.
July - phew. if you're still reading you deserve a medal !! Project KIDS. the kids only come for 2 days but us staff are on every weekday for 2 weeks. Just a tip: adorable, messy, hyper seven and nine year olds are exhausting. So that was the first 2 weeks of July. The 3rd week of July after project kids i went to melbourne with my cousin! It was so much fun but not entirely relaxing cos we packed so much into 6 days but it was so totally worth it. I've uploaded pictures on facebook from the melbourne trip. The last week of July was spent with my cousin(Georgina) and some of our closest friends because she was going back to Singapore after finishing her 4 years of uni here in Perth. So amidst alot of tears and hugs we said bye bye to her on Friday the 1st of august.
So that brings us to August right? Well 2nd semester of uni starts tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it! The last 2 months have been great but busy so i'm only just catching my breath and taking a big one at that before I jump into 2nd semester.
Hope the rest of you have had an equally great but less hectic last 2 months i'll slowly start reading your blogs to catch up with where the rest of you are. Yay for technology!
